How can therapy help you?

Counselling, Psychotherapy, and Therapy are all interchangeable words used to describe a space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with an experienced trained professional. I usually use the term ‘therapy’ to describe the work I do.

Sometimes we don’t have the resources or capacity to tackle things alone. Therapy provides a supportive, confidential space where you can pause, explore your thoughts and feelings, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself - helping you move towards clarity, self-compassion, and empowerment.

Many people I work with come to therapy struggling to cope. Therapy can help you to:

  • Make sense of difficult emotions

  • Understand repeating patterns of behaviour

  • Process past experiences & trauma

  • Explore difficulties in relationships

  • Make sense of life transitions

Together, we can gently explore how your experiences have shaped the way you see yourself & move through the world. At times, therapy may include gentle challenge, which is always offered with care and in line with your goals.

Therapeutic approaches that inform my practice

  • Explores how unconscious patterns, early experiences and early relationships may influence how you think, feel and relate to others in the present.

  • I recognise how our early relationships can influence how we experience closeness, trust & emotional safety in adulthood.

Exploring our attachment patterns can help us understand relational patterns throughout life & build new ways of connecting with ourselves & others.

  • I may incorporate creative elements based on your preferences, this is an optional addition. Introducing creative elements can help explore emotions that are difficult to verbalise.

  • This approach recognises that our experiences, emotions and stress can be held in the mind & body. I will gently bring your awareness to your body’s sensations & responses; helping you reconnect mind & body.

  • This views the mind being made up of different parts. These parts can develop to help us cope with difficult experiences. Within therapy we can gently explore these parts with curiosity; helping each to feel heard and understood.

  • Explores how we give meaning to, and make sense of our own lives.

  • Focuses on your present-moment experience—your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours—while taking a holistic view of your whole self. It encourages awareness of bodily sensations and where emotions are felt physically, helping you give voice to these experiences to deepen understanding of underlying emotions.

How I work as a Therapist

I am a Relational and Integrative Therapist; this means I tailor my approach to meet the individual needs of each client. I value the diversity of human experience, I adapt my methods to suit you, drawing on a range of therapeutic techniques. Most importantly, my approach is person-centred. This is a gentle, non-directive approach where I offer space for you to explore your thoughts & feelings at your own pace.

I offer a calm, steady presence, being alongside you in your emotional experiences and supporting you as we make sense of them together. Life can be complex and challenging - you may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck or impacted by past experiences that shape how you view yourself and relate to others. I believe that when people feel genuinely heard and accepted, it creates the conditions for growth, self-understanding, and meaningful change.

I view therapy in a holistic way, recognising that your emotional wellbeing is influenced by the connection between your mind, body, and your wider sense of meaning in life. I am also open to exploring deeper parts of your experience through a transpersonal and existential lens, such as your sense of meaning, purpose, or connection to something beyond the self, if that feels important to you. Where helpful, we might gently notice how your feelings show up in your body, as stress, past experiences, and emotions can often be felt physically in the body.

At the heart of my work is authenticity and trust in building a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, non-judgemental and co-creative where you can explore your emotions & experiences openly.

The way we work together will be collaborative & will always be guided by what feels comfortable & supportive for you.
